Essential Guides to the Tattoo Process & Shop Procedures
The Process of getting a Tattoo can seem intimidating, but it's just a simple process of Planning, preparation and Aftercare, with only a few steps to follow. read through the Instructions and contact us if you have any questions.
How to Plan your Tattoo
Everyone has different reasons for getting their tattoos, and as such, designs vary just as much. Because of this, it is best to create a description of what you want. Once you have that foundation, you can seek out reference images to further explain your design idea. Whether its just for your wrist and shoulder, or if it's an entire body piece, even the most basic rough sketch is a good starting point, as little details can get lost in descriptions alone. Never be afraid to be creative, as the best designs found online came from simple concepts or sketches. It will be on you for life, do not hesitate to express your vision in every detail, as every detail is what makes it Truly a unique work of art.
How to Prepare for your tattoo
The tattoo process is a medical procedure that can cause shock to the body at first, but often quickly settles down to just annoyance. There is of course pain, but it's level varies between clients, so the threshold is up to your distraction level. Make sure to Eat something before the process, as it can be very energy draining. Be sure you are not on any severe medications that can cause drowsiness or lack of judgement. Tension or straining or holding your breath can increase pain & blood pressure. If the pain becomes excessive, clients can ask for a small break. Breathing normally and relaxing are usually the best recommendations. Numbing creams such as TKTX Numbing Cream can also be used prior to the session to dull the sensation of pain significantly.
How to Care for your Tattoo
Once the tattoo is completed, you can review it in a mirror for quality or any final touches or additions. Then it will be sealed in either plastic wrap or paper towels for 1-3 hours to prevent bacteria coming in contact with the fresh tattoo. After 1-3 hours have passed, gently remove the covering and apply a small amount of ointment on the tattoo, just enough to create a thin shine. Apply the ointment 3-5 times daily for 5-7 days. Keeping it moisturized & clean during healing is key to a lasting tattoo.
Aquaphor, Bacitracin or A&D Ointment are all standard treatments for healing, although others exist.
Avoid chlorinated pools, hot tubs, direct sunlight or heavy soaking or steaming during your healing process time.
